Esterillos Oeste

Los Almendros~

Great food with Carribean as well as Thai and local influences. Always a great meal and lots of interesting people. Closed Wednesdays. Reservations recommended especially in high season.

Restaurante El Vago~

Bar and pizzeria, another great place to relax with a beer, cocktail or non alcoholic refreshment with the ocean in your face – looking at the reef break in front of La Sirena (The Mermaid statue).
With a local flavor, you can really get into the fin de semana vibe on Sundays with chicharrones (a local favorite boca, served gratis naturally), futbol, and cervezas con hielo. The food is good, and the menu features favorites like burritos, and casados, as well as pizza, and whatever specials Steve or Chapolin cooks up. There are pool tables, foosball tables, a small indoor skate park ( a mini half-pipe, and a couple rails, curbs, tables, etc ), and the music always seems appropriate to the mood of the day, ranging from reggae to ranchero to cumbia to reggaeton to hip hop to metal to old classics played on the pan flute.

Azul~

The disco. Right next to Azul the restaurant. Great dancing with all the best of Salsa Reggaeton, Cumbia, Reggae, Dance and other surprises. Open Every Nite!

Tropizon~

Really nice atmosphere, great people, great Costa Rican food, always a pleasure to dine here. Try the whole fish, it is amazing.

Barilitos~

Another disco right on the beach, really gets going with karaoke and a loud sound system keeps it pumping into the wee hours….

Shake~

At the North end of the beach, try it on a Sunday for some nice local vibe in an awesome setting, or Thursday afternoon horseshoe tournament, also football and other sports on the big screen, great bar food, and truly one of the most spectacular locations to enjoy it all.

The Pelican Restaurant

Nice beachfront hotel with great restaurant. Go for a tasty ceviche at lunchtime, bring the long board for a surf and feast on Mahi steaks or Jumbo Shrimp for dinner. Oh yeah, and that chicken cordon bleu with the mango sauce!
